Violin Casting Mould
An antique Violin wooden casting mould.
Originally hand carved in France to be used as a 'Casting Mould’; a master template from which further ornamental pieces were created. Once complete the wooden carving would have been wrapped in papier-mache and when dry, cut in half to release the wooden cast. The two papier-mache halves would then have been joined together to create the whole figure, before being painted, covered in resin or gilded.
This Violin is completely charming and a rare one off, perfect for any music lover.
